Volunteer trainers/facilitators for Creating Safer Space Advanced Module

The Creating Safer Space Advanced Module is the safeguarding training for specific roles in the Methodist Church.

This training is coordinated and led by the District Safeguarding Officer (Training) working with Regional Learning Network staff.

We are looking for volunteer trainers/facilitators to work as part of this team to assist in the delivery of these events across the district.  The role will be typically county-based.

Volunteer trainers/facilitators will be trained through a mentoring process.

The Creating Safer Space Advanced Module is made up of three elements:

  1. Pre-event material: carried out by delegates individually or as part of a local group
  2. Core Learning: a 4 hour training event delivered by trained trainers and facilitators
  3. Ongoing learning: delegates are encouraged to use their Creating Safer Space handbooks to gain further understanding.
Creating Safer Space Advance Module objectives are met by delegates through engagement in all three elements.

Trainers and facilitators are required to:
  • travel to the venue (typically in their home county but not necessarily so)
  • help set up the training venue (this usually starts 1.5 hours prior to the event)
  • as part of a delivery team, deliver elements of the connexional training material
  • help pack down the training venue (1/2 hour)

Travel expenses will be paid by the district.

Once trained, we would be looking for a commitment to be part of the delivery team for 3 years. The expected time commitment will be 7 hours, once a quarter.

You do not need to be a current Creating Safer Space Foundation Module trainer to be considered for this role.

Probation: during the mentoring process a decision will be made by the District Safeguarding Officer (Training) on whether the probation period has been successful.
